Inez Neighborhood was founded in the 1950s, by developer Sam Hoffman. The Inez addition here in Albuquerque, NM consisted of 600 homes. Hoffman also had similar developments in Phoenix and Cleveland. The three-bedroom model originally was sold for $8950 and the two-bedroom model went for $7950. Here are some memories from the original residents:

  • Telephones were shared. Ten party lines with different ID rings.
  • Both Indian School and Wyoming were dirt roads.
  • City gave two Chinese elms to everyone who asked.
  • Land was 50-cents an acre.
  • Hoffmantown neighborhood built after Inez.
  • Original owners on 2000 and 2100 block of Vermont were outside the city limits, but included a few months later.
  • Prospect Park existed prior to the library.
